The Blue Mountain National Recreation Trail is an eight-mile trail from the foothills at the east end of the park to the Blue Mountain Lookout. This hike follows a two-mile section of the trail along a beautiful forested path through ponderosa pine and Douglas fir. The nature trail loop has an overlook with a panoramic photograph identifying the peaks and canyons within sight. Interpretive brochures are at the trailhead and local visitor centers. If you prefer a shorter quarter-mile hike, the road passes the signed Blue Mountain Nature Trail en route to the trailhead.
