The seven-mile Dornwood Park Trail is located in southeast Topeka and is accessible from a trailhead on SE 25th Street, east of California Avenue. the trail has evolved from prairie to hardwood forest. Several trails meander along Deer Creek in heavily forested, rolling terrain. Near the trailhead, the remnants of old stone dairy buildings can be seen. On the south side of the park, trails also wind through wide-open prairie grasses. On the northwest side of the park the trail rolls along high banks above Deer Creek.
