Rated easy, the trail is wide and well-maintained. The Giant Red Cedar trail introduces visitors to a wet draw bottom and an old-growth cedar stand. The largest tree is designated as the "Champion Tree of Idaho" (18 feet in diameter, 177 feet in height). Note the large cedar shattered by wind and another fallen giant that is crossed by a footbridge. This trail is closed to all motorized recreation. Paved walkways make this a fully accessible trail.

Ancient presence

This awesome tree is an ancient presence in the forest. The signage says it's 3500 years old, which seems a dubious claim to me , but there's no doubt this giant has anchored this forest landscape for a very, very long time. You can feel it through your feet and breath it in with every sparkling breath. Take time to sit and think a spell here beside this wonderful being.
