The Lupine Lake Trail is 3.0 miles long. This trail provides access to one of the district mountain lakes and connects with Trail #310.
Location: Flathead National Forest
- States: Montana
- Counties: Flathead
The Lupine Lake Trail was originally constructed as part of a fire access trail system in the 1930s. Recent use has been primarily for fishing access to Lupine Lake. The lake receives moderate summer and winter fishing pressure for the two- to three-pound Westslope Cutthroat Trout inhabiting the lake.
The trail passes through lodgepole pine stands in various stages of succession. Clearcut stands are encountered near the trailheads, with young, mature, and overstocked stands occurring at various spots along the trail. The only major long-distance viewing point is located at Ashley Mountain. The old lookout post oversees the entire Logan and Griffin Creek drainage.
The trail is open to non-motorized and motorized use, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and motorcycle riding are all allowed.
