The Maidu Lake Trail heads west, from Miller Lake, for 4.5 miles to Maidu Lake within Mt. Thielsen Wilderness.

Location: Winema National Forest, In Winema National Forest, 12 mi. N of Crater Lake National Park.

Maidu Lake Trail crosses the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000 on its way to the lake. This is a great access trail for both the Pacific Crest Trail and Mt. Thielsen Wilderness.

Maidu Lake Trail crosses a forested mountain pass north of Mt. Thielsen to Maidu Lake, the source of the North Umpqua River. For a shorter hike from the same trailhead, try the 5-mile path around Miller Lake. Be prepared for mosquitoes in June-July.

The trail begins at Miller Lake near Digit Point Campground. The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking, Horseback Riding
