The Monon Trail is a linear rail trail that spans Marion County to Hamilton County. The trail begins at 10th Street in Indianapolis extending North through Marion County into Hamilton County. The trail passes by commercial and industrial areas and then crosses the Fall Creek Trail just before the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Once you pass the fairgrounds you'll see the Indiana School for the Deaf to the North and East of the trail.

This is the beginning of the area that is taking on the name of "SoBro". Broad Ripple Proper picks up around 54th-57th Streets and Broad Ripple Village between Kessler Blvd and the mighty White River. North of the river you pass Marott Park and Nature Preserve until you cross 75th Street where you'll see the Indiana Blind School to the West. This begins a slight increase in the grade of the trail and the approach to the Nora area.
