Because it parallels Leatherwood Creek for much of its route, the trail provides a great opportunity for viewing waterfowl. Rabbits, bald eagles, and other local wildlife have been known to make appearances as well. The trail is open to walkers, joggers, bicyclists, rollerblading, cross-country skiing.
